Tuition and Fees 2006-2007
Advanced Contemplative Study: $1250/year. Provides
intentional spiritual study and guidance throughout the year. Included in this
tuition is the cost of the six-day residential retreat teachings, online
contemplative discussions, bi-monthly teachings, individually designed study
during each year, and discounts on Beverly’s audio and video lectures
series. May be taken for one year or multiple years. A
Certificate in Advanced Contemplative Study is also available. Please
contact me for further information.
Ordination Program: $2500/year. In addition to the
educational offerings in Advanced Contemplative Study, the Ordination Program
prepares an individual to be an ordained minister, with all the rights and
privileges of clergy, in an interfaith contemplative tradition. Students
are guided to form a self-directed program that includes study of the world’s
sacred texts and traditions; interfaith spirituality and theology; spirituality
of nonviolence; constructive theologies; contemplative and monastic
spiritualities; arts of ministry; ethics in ministry; spirituality and healing;
new traditions of mystical wisdom; new traditions of spiritual practices; and
optional electives. In addition, students preparing for ordination are
required to fulfill pastoral and social justice internships, submit written
assignments, maintain and submit a contemplative portfolio, minister’s manual,
and philosophy of spiritual vows. Length of program dependent upon
individual’s background and preparation for ministry.
Monastic Program: $2000/year. In addition to the
educational offerings in Advanced Contemplative Study, the Monastic Program is
specially created for individuals who are pursuing a deeper contemplative
life-commitment, and who wish to take personal monastic vows witnessed and
celebrated by the community. Study may include elements of the coursework
in the Ordination Program, but is geared toward the monastic and mystical
teachers of the world’s religions, and the practices, vows, and observances that
underlie the monastic vocation throughout history. This program functions
as a kind of hermit-education, in which each participant is responsible to
design and fulfill his or her spirit calling, in conversation and mentoring with
Beverly. Students preparing to take monastic vows are required to
fulfill a contemplative internship, develop a personal spiritual formation
practice, and submit a final contemplative portfolio, which includes their
personal and formal life-vows. Length of program dependent upon individual’s
background and preparation for monastic vows.
Ordination and
monastic vows reflect a quality of life-commitment and a public affirmation that
one has placed the Divine at the center of one’s life. Both inclusive of
and beyond any formal, institutional, or social meaning, the ordaining of a
person and the professing of a vowed life are profound gifts of the Spirit.
