Schola Divina (divine school or teaching) is dedicated to the transformation of individuals and the global community by educating and supporting the development of spiritual leaders who embody the mystical wisdom that gives rise to personal and social change. Our mission is to provide spiritual resources for practitioners, scholars, and leaders in diverse professions to deepen the sacred foundation of one's life and work in a climate that cultivates spiritual commitment and personal holiness. | It is my hope that Schola Divina will serve as a refuge in which a person may find silence, study of the sacred, support and guidance on the journey of faith, and the joy of working together toward a communal search for sanctity and love. By deepening our capacity for silence and solitude, we pray that a global community of understanding and peace is born. May our work together lead to the alleviation of suffering and to the lifting up of all creation, as we anoint and are anointed by the fragrance of the Holy. ~ Beverly Lanzetta | Founded by Dr. Beverly Lanzetta to provide the contemplative atmosphere of the monastic setting in a modern, interfaith context, Schola Divina is modeled on the ancient ideal in which study of sacred texts and transmission of spiritual wisdom become the foundation for transformative self-study and reflection. Committed to the integral unity of contemplation and action, our programs support a monastic learning experience conducive to scholarly inquiry and spiritual practice. For those who are called to a formal spiritual commitment, Dr. Lanzetta also mentors selected professionals in preparation for interfaith ordination and/or interfaith monastic vows. Schola Divina advocates for new spiritual models that affirm the mystical oneness of life and the prophetic call for justice necessary to sustain the holiness of our world. Concerned with the profound changes affecting life today, we hold that it is a sacred duty to forge a global spirituality that is socially responsible and deeply nonviolent. By placing the collective heritage of religious traditions and contemporary scholarship in service of a divine community on earth, we seek spiritual solutions to personal, social, ecological, and political concerns. In our commitment to advance spiritual literacy and practice around the globe, Schola Divina offers a variety of residential, non-residential, and media-based programs. In addition to contemplative retreats, seminars, and on-line learning, Schola Divina develops innovative research, educational materials, and sacred practices that explore the boundaries and new dimensions of religious and non-religious forms of spirituality. |
